Design Profile
Design is both professional and personal to me
I grew up in my mother, Joan's antique shops and developed a passion for design.
Growing up between Boston and New Orleans, my design aesthetic has diverse influences. I graduated from Boston University with a business degree. After the birth of my daughter, I decided to pursue my passion, and I attended the Rhode Island School of Design where I studied interior design. A few years later we welcomed our baby boy and moved to Pittsburgh where I attended The Art Institute and completed my interior design degree.
Upon graduation, I worked as a design assistant for Kathleen Clements. Some of the projects I supported include a 35,000 square foot new construction in the Pittsburgh area, a fixer-upper in Beverly Hills, and a condo on New York's Central Park. My responsibilities included drafting, space planning, recommending fabrics and finishes, traveling to visit clients, and overseeing final installations.

After developing my skills, I began my own practice, Hildy Heffernan Interiors, about 15 years ago. I offer a range of services from small consultations to complete home renovation design, with a specialty in kitchens and baths. Please look through my photos, and if my designs speak to you, speak to me!
